Academic Board Meeting Held at the Vocational School of Health Services

An Academic Board Meeting was held at Aksaray University Vocational School of Health Services to evaluate academic and quality-related processes for the 2026–2027 Academic Year. The meeting covered department and program coordinatorships, student and graduate feedback, self-evaluation processes, Bologna Information Packages, course monitoring, and course assignments for the spring semester.

Within the scope of the meeting, assignments related to the heads of the Department of Health and Care Services and the Department of Medical Services and Techniques, as well as the relevant program coordinatorships, were discussed. In addition, practices aimed at increasing participation in student satisfaction and graduate surveys were evaluated, with particular emphasis on the active involvement of academic advisors in the process.

The results of the 2025–2026 Academic Year University Student Satisfaction Survey were also reviewed. Feedback concerning the Sign Language course in the Elderly Care Program and the Fine Arts II course in the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program was discussed, and improvement decisions were taken. In this context, it was decided to increase the weekly duration of the Sign Language course, revise its content to make it more specific to the Elderly Care field, and update the relevant Bologna Information Package. For the Fine Arts II course, it was decided that assessment criteria and grading matrices would be clearly explained to students at the beginning of the course.

The meeting also included an information session for the quality sub-working groups responsible for preparing program, department, and unit self-evaluation reports. Participants were informed about the distribution of responsibilities, the preparation of self-evaluation reports, and the procedures to be followed for entering the reports into the UBYS system.

In accordance with the Senate Decision dated 09.09.2026 and numbered 27/14, the process regarding the monitoring of at least one course taught by each academic staff member through the NOTA application and/or a similar method approved by the Unit Education Commission was also discussed. It was emphasized that this practice would support the traceability and documentation of educational processes.

The deficiencies identified during the evaluation of the Bologna Information Packages by the unit Bologna coordinators were shared with the Academic Board members. Particular attention was drawn to the need for logical and consistent alignment between Program Outcomes (POs) and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) in accordance with course content and expected learning achievements. It was also decided that the Bologna Information Package Checklist would be completed separately for each course and that the identified deficiencies would be corrected accordingly.

In the final part of the meeting, course assignments for the Spring Semester of the 2026–2027 Academic Year were discussed. Course distributions for the four programs within the Vocational School were planned by taking into account the academic staff members’ fields of expertise, academic competencies, and compulsory teaching loads.

The Academic Board Meeting concluded with evaluations aimed at strengthening the monitoring of education and training processes, transforming student feedback into improvement actions, and ensuring the sustainable implementation of quality assurance activities.
